Anker 555 hub vs 511 charger: which job do you need?

A port-expansion device and a charger solve different problems.

Deskwise editorial · · Research-based guidance

Start with the job

The Anker 555 A8383 is an 8-in-1 USB-C hub. Anker 511 Nano 3 A2147 is a 30W USB-C charger. A hub expands connections; a charger supplies power to compatible devices. Do not choose between them using a generic best-accessory ranking.

Research the hub for connections

If you need to connect multiple peripherals, list their ports and check host support against the exact hub specifications. The physical presence of USB-C does not establish every video or power feature.

Research the charger for power

If you need a compact power adapter, compare the device’s required power and charging protocol with the 30W model. It is not a universal replacement for every laptop adapter. A compatible cable may be required separately.

Our conclusion

Choose based on the missing capability in your setup. Depending on the devices involved, you may need a hub, a charger or both. We have not tested their performance together.
